TRE

Trauma/Tension Release Exercises, devised by David Becelli, offer a profound and life changing practice to regulate your nervous system using the natural and innate mechanism the body already has. The same brain stem mechanism that arouses fight/flight/freeze/fawn also has the ability to turn it off, to return to a baseline of connected, calm and responsive.

Benefits of TRE

Staying Present in the moment

There are lots of resources that offer to support us, such as mindfulness and meditation. Practices that focus on helping us to develop the capacity to stay fully in the present moment.

What is often overlooked is that if you have trauma in your body you do not experience the present moment as safe so you will find that you bounce back into thought easily and frequently.

This is not your fault it is a natural mechanism that you have evolved to find safety. When your fight/flight/freeze responses are activated, the sensations in the body can feel very unsafe and uncomfortable so you disconnect from those sensations and into your mind and thoughts and imaginings.

This is a mechanism that kept you safe as a child when you could not do anything else but now as an adult is it limiting and cuts you off from the fullness of life and your own potential.

Trauma is not about what happened in the past it is very much present and affecting this moment, the wounding is in the present. Underneath this wounding is an inherent and natural sense of safety that can be discovered as the layers of habituated unconscious responses are gently unwound by the body's own intelligent tremor mechanism.

Reduced worry and anxiety
